Fred Kowalik
1974-1987
Catcher
  • Prior to attending Ithaca College on a baseball scholarship, this perennial all-star joined the Albany Twilight in 1974 with the Schaeffer Brewers. As a sophomore in college, Fred played in the Division III World Series: finished second in the nation that year. Completed his college career at Costal Carolina. Went on to play for Cocca's Diner from 1977-1986 after spending two years with Culligans. Selected the Leagues MVP in 1983. Ranks 5th all-time in HR's and 8th in RBI's.

    Bob Murphy

  • Second Team All-American at Siena College. Broke into the league in 1976 with Opeenheim Post. This five time All-star went on to play for 21 years; one of the leagues longest tenure. Played on six Championship teams; 1976, 1978, 1980, 1983, 1984. Selected as league MVP in 1982. Sponsored and managed his own team; Murph's Glove Repair in 1989-1990. Named as the leagues Vice President in 1991. Finished his outstanding career with the Troy Haymakers and State Color. The All-time career leader in AB's, Hits, and Runs. Ranks 4th in HR's and 2nd in RBI's.

    Ed Lange

  • One of the leagues long ball hitters of the 1970's. This Notre Dame graduate played in the league for 12 years. Played on six Championship teams; in 1970 with the Schaeffer Brewers and in 1969, 75, 76, 78, and 79 with the Oppenheim Post VFW. Led the league in HR's and RBI's in 1977. Played his final year with Cocca's Diner.
